Born in Iran, Nora is a writer/director based in Melbourne. She holds a Bachelor in Architecture from the University of Technology, Sydney and a Masters in Film & TV from the Victorian College of the Arts. Nora started her career making short documentaries in Lebanon including BEIRUT, UNDER THE BRIDGE, awarded ‘Special Jury Prize’ and ‘Best Director Documentary’ at the 11th Beirut International Film Festival. In 2015, she was selected for the Abbas Kiarostami filmmaking workshop in Barcelona and her narrative short THE PHOENIX (SIMORGH) premiered at the 64th Melbourne International Film Festival in the Accelerator program for emerging directors. Nora recently completed a short film titled WATERFALL funded by Screen Australia’s Hot Shots Program and is currently developing several feature film projects.


Lizzette Atkins worked in distribution, acquisitions and exhibition for over 10 years for Dendy Films and Newvision Films as Marketing and Acquisitions Manager before setting up Circe Films in 2003, where she produced over 15 dramas, documentaries and documentary series for television and cinema. Lizzette formed Unicorn Films as sole director in 2012. Recently completed documentary features include George Gittoes’ SNOW MONKEY (official competition IDFA 2015, FIPA 2016 and Sheffield Film Festival 2016); WINTER AT WESTBETH and MOTHER WITH A GUN both screened at DOC NYC 2016; AIM HIGH IN CREATION (2014) (IDFA and Critic’s Prize St Petersburg Film Festival 2014).


Mandi Bialek-Wester graduated from the Australian Film, Television & Radio School with a Masters in Film and Television: Production Design in 1999. She has worked as the Art Director on a number of acclaimed projects including TV series TOP OF THE LAKE 2: CHINA GIRL (2017), SECRET CITY (2016), and DEVIL'S PLAYGROUND (2014), as well as feature films including STEM (2017), HOLDING THE MAN (2014) and STRANGERLAND (2014). Whilst based in Santiago, Chile, she curated Australian film showcases for Film Festival Cine//B, (Imperfect Paradise/Paraiso Imperfecto, 2011) and Centro Cultural Matucana 100 (Australian Film Focus/Foco en Australia, 2013).


Alejandra Canales & Claire Fletcher are Matadora Films: a production company interested in tales that are unconventional, diverse, and brave, told through a female lens. Alejandra is a Chilean-born director. Her film SWITCH ON THE NIGHT was screened at IDFA and won the CRC Award at Sydney film festival. She co-founded Antenna Documentary Film Festival and still acts as a key advisor. Claire has over 15 years experience as a film editor, key credits include: MAD BASTARDS (Sundance Film Festival, 2012), CAST FROM THE STORM (ABC 2015), PSYCHIC IN THE SUBURBS (ABC 2016). She recently completed a short novel and is heavily influenced by Latin American literature and cinema.


Livia Ruzic has worked in sound post-production for over 30 years as a dialogue editor, FX editor or sound designer on close to 200 productions, from feature films to documentaries, shorts, animations, television productions and dance soundscapes. She has been part of sound teams that have been awarded over a dozen awards including AFI/AACTA awards, ASSG awards and a BAFTA. Some of these productions include feature films: BALIBO, MURIEL’S WEDDING, SHINE, ROMEO & JULIET and documentaries: THE FAMILY, ECCO HOMO, DR SARMAST’S MUSIC SCHOOL.

Sonaire - COMPOSER(S)

Sonaire is Darren Middleton and Simon Walbrook. Darren spent his time between 1991-2010 as guitarist and songwriter with much loved Brisbane band, Powderfinger. During their time as a band, Darren scored for the Heath Ledger movie, TWO HANDS and Eric Bana's LOVE THE BEAST. He has since worked as a songwriter, producer and film composer. An AACTA award winning sound designer and composer, Simon has a long list of film and television credits. As a musician and producer he has mixed, remixed and created tracks with Dr Octagon, Kool Keith, Bonde do Role, Architecture in Helsinki, Princess Superstar and Passion Pit.

Daniela Paz Ibaceta - ASSISTANT DIRECTOR

Daniela is a graduate of Audiovisual Communications from UNIACC in Santiago, Chile. She is the director and founder of Amunche Productions. She previously worked as a writer/director’s assistant on the short film EL ROPERO DEL PUEBLO (2011), selected in the Guadalajara Film Festival and the Cannes Film Market. She worked as a Director of Photography in the documentary EL PACTO DE ADRIANA (2017) by Lizz Orosco, which was awarded the Friedensfilmpreis at the 2017 Berlinale and the Special Jury Award at the 2017 Guadalajara Film Festival.

Mara Grinbergs - ART DIRECTOR

Mara studied Audiovisual Communications at UNIACC university, and started her career as an Art Director on several award winning short films and music videos including TRAS LAS CORTINAS (2004). She has also worked as a Props Designer on feature films, DESDE EL CORAZÓN (2008), and continued her work as an art director on feature films, LA VACA ATADA (2008), MARCELO, LA MAFIA Y LA ESTAFA (2009), SALVARTE (2010) and CASA ANTÚNEZ (2017). She continues to work as Art Director for numerous productions in Chile.


Documentary filmmaker, Karla Díaz Montalba graduated from the University of Chile and the Film School of San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba. Karla has directed documentaries such as EL PASAR DE ERICA (2011), MANOS TEJEDORAS (2013) and LA DAMA DE LA PERCUSIÓN (2014). Karla is also a documentary film teacher,  the director of an independent cinema called CINESPACIO, and a producer of the documentary series MIRADOC in the city of Talca.
